The Seal Shield team attended the International Conference on Infection Control and Prevention (ICPIC Conference) in Geneva, Switzerland. Held just steps away from the United Nations headquarters, the facility offered a unique backdrop for conversations on global health and infection prevention. The venue provided an ideal setting for global dialogue, bringing together infection control professionals and experts from a variety of industries, including government agencies, healthcare, and academic institutions to exchange ideas just steps from where international policy decisions are made.
Roughly 1,000 participants attended, including physicians, infection preventionists, academics, and public health leaders. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) did not have in-person representatives this year due to funding constraints. The absence of long-time colleagues from the United States agency provided a slightly different feel. Still, the conference carried an international energy, underscoring its role as a hub for cross-border collaboration and shared learning in the infection control space.
Addressing the impact hospital-acquired infections have on patient outcomes is a continuous challenge. Beyond presentations, the ICPIC conference also had networking sessions that provided healthcare professionals and researchers an opportunity to exchange insights on combating infectious diseases and advancing patient safety worldwide. Many discussions centered on how healthcare systems can better prepare for the next global threat, emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration and technology-driven prevention strategies. These conversations emphasized a shared mission across disciplines—to strengthen infection control infrastructure and protect patients everywhere.

Infection control takes center stage at the ICPIC Conference
The breadth of sessions at the ICPIC conference reflected the global scale of today’s infection prevention challenges and combatting healthcare-associated infections. Seal Shield’s research and engineering team gained firsthand insight into how healthcare systems are addressing both familiar and emerging risks.
Hand hygiene remained a recurring theme, underscoring its foundational role in infection prevention. A multicenter hospital study highlighted how “friendly competition” among staff improved compliance and created a more consistent culture of hygiene. Another session focused on nursing homes, using a mixed-methods approach to assess hand hygiene guidelines and opportunities—a reminder that infection control extends well beyond acute care into long-term care and elder care facilities. Several presentations explored how healthcare must continue to evolve after COVID-19, sparking conversation about whether long-held practices need reevaluation in light of global experience.
Environmental and surface disinfection also featured prominently. One such session was a UK-led review of UVC sanitization systems, which emphasized that beyond proven efficacy, factors such as usability, staff training, and feasibility ultimately determine successful adoption. This echoed Seal Shield’s philosophy: the best tools are those that deliver reliable performance with a low learning curve, empowering more staff to use them consistently.
Collectively, these sessions provided both inspiration and urgency. They reinforced the need for infection prevention strategies that are not only scientifically sound but also realistic for everyday implementation in healthcare settings worldwide.

Solutions that support infection control efforts
At ICPIC, Seal Shield demonstrated how our Infection Control Suite directly addresses many of the challenges highlighted during the sessions. Health workers were eager to see solutions that blend durability, usability, and proven infection control benefits.
Our Seal Clean keyboards and Cleanwipe Pro keyboard were focal points for conversations. As fully sealed, dishwasher-safe devices, these keyboards are designed to withstand repeated exposure to medical-grade disinfectants without degrading—an essential requirement in facilities where surface contamination remains a persistent risk. Visitors appreciated how the Cleanwipe Pro pairs low-profile ergonomics with infection control reliability, making it ideal for both tight workspaces and long typing sessions. Accompanying these keyboards was the Seal Storm 042 wireless mouse, which combines wireless convenience with a waterproof, washable body that can withstand regular disinfection.
Another solution engineered for handling rigorous cleaning and disinfection wipes: the Seal Silk Pro™ mechanical keyboard. Designed with a fully sealed silicone housing and responsive mechanical keys, it offers the tactile typing experience health workers want without compromising cleanability. For clinicians who spend long hours entering data or charting, this product struck the right balance between usability and cleanability.
On the UV sanitization side, the ElectroClave™ system resonated with attendees managing fleets of shared devices. Its ability to pair UV-C sanitization with intelligent device management and compliance tracking addressed pain points raised in the sessions on feasibility and adoption of UVC systems. Alongside it, the CleanSlate UV sanitizer demonstrated how fast, no-touch cycles—just 20 seconds for phones and tablets—can seamlessly integrate into workflows at entry points, nurse stations, or public-facing areas.
Finally, Seal Shield’s Clean Seal Screen Protectors garnered interest from health workers managing touch-screen heavy environments. Built to resist harsh disinfectants used in hospitals, they offer essential durability while maintaining clarity.
Infection prevention and control guidelines are just one part
ICPIC 2025 was a powerful reminder that infection prevention needs collaboration across borders, disciplines, and technologies. A global health conference like this one underscored the urgent need for infection prevention policies and reliable tools.
Seal Shield continues to stand alongside leaders in this conversation, contributing solutions designed to support safer healthcare environments worldwide. The experience in Geneva reaffirmed our commitment to innovating at the intersection of usability and infection control.
