Affecting 1 in 10 patients globally, HAIs lead to extended patient stays, prolonged illness, and cost the healthcare system an estimated $28-45 billion annually. While many infection control efforts prioritize patient areas and procedural surfaces, high-touch personal and shared devices—such as keyboards, tablets, and smartphones—are too often excluded from routine disinfection protocols.
Studies have shown that 1 in 4 hospital keyboards harbor MRSA, and 2 out of 3 inpatient-use tablets test positive for MRSA contamination. These statistics highlight how even well-intentioned cleaning routines can miss major sources of cross-contamination if proper tools and workflows are not in place.
