The Challenge:
Upgrading WOW Carts While Strengthening Cleaning Protocols and (SSO) Authentication
Niagara Health, a multi-site hospital system in Ontario, Canada, began a system-wide refresh of its Workstations on Wheels (WOWs). Early in the process, they realized keyboards with card reader capabilities were a crucial element missing in their workflow. Historically, Niagara Health relied on traditional keyboards, which were not designed for clinical environments. Card readers underwent makeshift setups to work with these keyboards but were never truly secured to them.
These legacy keyboards also struggled to withstand Niagara Health’s rigorous cleaning protocols. Because they weren’t engineered for routine disinfection with hospital-grade disinfectants, they could not endure Diversey Oxivir and PCS 5000 wipes, resulting in accelerated wear and inconsistent cleaning.

From an infection-control standpoint, the impact has been equally significant. Staff can now disinfect each keyboard using Diversey Oxivir and PCS 5000 wipes without damaging the device. After cleaning their medical monitoring devices, teams apply “I Am Clean” stickers. With the Cleanwipe Pro, they have the confidence that their keyboards can withstand the same sanitization protocols used for their monitoring devices.
